First things first: check out the super cute and cool cover of my friend Michelle Andreani’s book that she co-wrote with Mindi Scott! You can pre-order it now.
I would like to eat pulled chicken sandwiches with pomegranate BBQ sauce and crunchy apple slaw ALL THE DAY.
This awesome lady held an intruder to her home at SWORD POINT until the police arrived.
I have just become aware that The Flaming Lips have been and are working with Miley Cyrus. This is bonkers and also makes total sense to me. But to top that news, the band and singer are planning a completely naked show together. Including a naked audience! (Please, someone go and report back.)
How adorable does First & Then by Emma Mills sound?! It’s Pride & Prejudice meets Friday Night Lights! Book club, anyone?
Also: The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness sounds fantastic. Which is no surprise coming from Patrick Ness.
This is the greatest gift the Internet that has ever given me*. And only partly because I’m currently re-reading The Once and Future King FOR WRITING RESEARCH GET EXCITED.
*This is probably untrue in the long run. But it is true right now.
I love everything about this New York Times Magazine article about Shrimp Boy and his attorney J. Tony Serra. Organized crime! Hippie lawyers! It includes this sentence: “To win this case, and any case, he said, ‘‘You have to show you have the moral high ground — that you have transcended the conflict as defined by the prosecution.’’ He paused, then added: ‘‘I have the Buddha here.’’”
Nerd out with me whilst looking at this tintype featuring Billy the Kid. The image was bought for $2 at a junk store. I really need to start going to junk stores and buying random photos so that one day I can find a photo of Doc Holiday and then be able to pay off my grad school loans. Now I just want to read/watch Westerns all weekend.
And Thor works out while lifting adorable babies! (Chris Hemsworth joined Instagram. Christmas for the Internet, basically.)
Happy Friday, everyone!
